When using your stand-up paddle board (SUP), it’s likely at some point the inevitable will happen, usually followed by some strong words… Dings, scratches, chips, punctures or worse! We’ve all been there. The good news is there’s a fix for (almost) everything. The SUP Company is here to get you back on the water with your pride and joy with some top repair recommendations for your composite or inflatable paddle board.

Composite Boards

Composite boards are fantastic for performance but are susceptible to some damage if used heavy handily. Most solid SUPs use a construction method that involve the use of an EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) or EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) foam. The Foam is then wrapped in composite construction. Learn more about different hard board constructions here. If you have sustained damage to your composite board that goes through to the foam, it will be best to have this repaired to avoid any water ingress to the foam core. We understand it can be hard to know who to trust when looking for a repairer. The SUP Co is always happy to answer any of your questions and point you in the right direction.

Most inflatable paddle board packages include a repair/service kit. These kits usually include a valve spanner and some colour matched PVC patches. A valve spanner is used to tighten or loosen your board valve. If you find there is a slight air leak around the valve, you will need to use the valve spanner to tighten the valve which will stop the leak. Watch our video on how to fix a leaking valve here.
